Science Backed Since 2006

Our clients were telling us their bodies were transforming. We heard it over and over, and we wanted to prove it.

In 2010, we commissioned an independent university study at the Adelphi University Human Performance Laboratory.

Thirty seven women. Four weeks. Every measurement that matters. The results confirmed the power of what we had built.

Our Story

Physique 57 opened its first studio on 57th Street in New York City in 2006. From the very first class, clients came back reporting the same thing: their bodies were changing in ways other workouts had never delivered: inches lost, muscles defined, posture improved, and their energy up. We heard it over and over, but anecdotal results are not the same as proof.

Four years after opening our doors, we commissioned an independent university study at the Adelphi
University Human Performance Laboratory. Exercise physiologists measured 37 women over four
weeks of Physique 57 barre classes. Researchers tracked weight, body fat, lean muscle, skinfold thickness at six sites, and circumference measurements throughout the body.

The results confirmed what our clients had been telling us for years: women were simultaneously losing fat and building muscle, with statistically significant reductions in total inches lost in as little as two weeks and even more pronounced by week four.

Now, more than 15 years later, the method remains the same. So do the results.

Statistically Significant

Here is exactly what the Adelphi University study found, measured by exercise physiologists using gold-standard ACSM protocols.

What Participants Said:

90% of participants reported feeling stronger. 76% said they looked better. These were everyday women, not athletes, reporting how they felt after 16 classes.

37 women proved it in 2010.

Now it is your turn.
