Johanna S., a longtime client at our Beverly Hills studio, always loved the emotional and physical benefits that came from taking class at Physique 57. However, it wasn’t until she was pregnant with her baby boy that she realized how strong she actually was. Read her story below to see how Physique 57 helped her throughout her pregnancy and labor!*
To celebrate my four-year anniversary as an active member at the Physique Beverly Hills studio, I wanted to share my fitness journey, as Physique 57 has done more for me than create long, lean muscles. Physique 57 keeps me healthy physically and emotionally. As my muscles have strengthened so has my confidence and athleticism and as I push myself harder in each interval and breathe through the intensity of the movements, my feeling of control outside the studio has improved. Especially during my pregnancy, Physique 57 became a community for me, with instructors, clients and staff all supporting and cheering me on as my baby boy grew. There are not many exercise studios that a new mother would want to send a photo of her newborn to the same day she delivered!
Physique 57 was a huge component of my healthy and high energy pregnancy and the smoothest labor I could have ever dreamed to have. I made Physique 57 classes a priority during my pregnancy by taking class in the studio 4-6 times per week and doing the Physique Prenatal online workout video when I was out of town. While nobody won the bet on me delivering in the studio, I did take class every day for the week leading up to my delivery and pulsed my way through the start of my labor in class with Rachel. As I continued to labor at home, my Physique 57 practice had strengthened my muscles, my endurance, and my control and awareness of my body to push through my contractions. I even used Physique 57 movements during my labor. I mean I wasn’t thigh dancing my way through labor, but more gentle ‘wide second’ or ‘lunges’ helped prep my body for delivery. I had been told by the Physique instructors that “Physique 57 babies” pop right out. I kept my expectations in check, but was pleasantly surprised. When I arrived at the hospital at 5am, I was 9 cm dilated, and less than 3 hours later, my baby slid right out with only about 20 minutes of pushing.
Johanna is already back at the barre and looking and feeling great. We are thrilled to continue to be a part of her fitness journey. Do you have a story to share? Let us know here.
