Tanya Becker, co-founder of Physique 57, hosted a live Q&A on our Facebook page to discuss how to make the most of your workouts.  Tanya answered questions on what to do when you reach a fitness plateau, how to overcome fitness challenges and how to maximize your results.  Here are some highlights from the Q&A in case you missed it.

Veronica M:
How can I overcome a fitness plateau?  Should I stop working out for a while or double the workout time?  I do the Classic 57 Min DVD twice a week plus 1 booster workout during the week and daily cardio on top of everything.
Tanya Becker (TB):
Never stop working out! You will lose the muscle tone you’ve worked so hard to achieve.  Your current Physique 57 program is 2.5 hours and we typically suggest 4-5 hours plus our diet plan which you can find in our book, The Physique 57 Solution . Those changes should help you achieve your goals!

Jodi: Can I do the Classic 57 minute workouts 5 days a week without too much stress on my body. I would like to do these DVDs daily but at 46 I’m concerned about taking good care of myself.
I understand. I’m 41 and I’ve been doing these exercises for over 20 years. What’s great is that because it’s non-impact you’re taking good care of your joints.

Emily D: My challenge is fueling my body up with the right foods at the right time.
TB: Check out our book, The Physique 57 Solution , for great snack options! Snacks are a great way to fuel up without having a full meal before your workout. I’m a big fan of bananas and almond butter.

Tammy C:  I have recently lost coming up to 115 lbs (with the help of Physique 57 of course).  Are there any additional exercises that I can do that will help me to strengthen the arms; back and abs?  Those seem to be the plateau that are not moving for me.
I’m inspired by your dedication and courage!! The good news is that you’re doing everything right because the changes you are seeing are usually the first to start changing. What size weights are you using for your arms? Maybe try increasing that a bit and for your abs just be patient and try to engage them in ALL the exercises (not just specific ab exercises)! For the back muscles try to do extra sets of rows.

Nivia T: My challenge is I’m in a rut.  I used to work out 5 times a week @ 5:00am and ever since I lost my full time job I’m not consistent. I wanted to ask about how to get motivated once again and start working out in the am. I currently have your P57 DVD…Thank you!
TB: I would say post a motivating picture next to your alarm- skinny jeans, bikini, or could be a picture that inspires good health.  Something that will remind you why you want to get up.
Also, have a plan for right after your workout. Since you used to go right to work maybe now it’s out for a walk to get breakfast, coffee, tea, read newspaper, meet a friend, etc.  Have a plan!
